DNA LABORATORY
Investigation and evaluation of the degree of moisture and mould damage has been slow with traditional methods. Using the cultivation method with microscopic analysis it takes a week to obtain the mould or bacterium result and obtaining a reliable actinomycete result requires two weeks since the date of sampling. This is a long time for persons living in a damaged building or when corrective maintenance actions are planned. Because after the corrective maintenance actions it is usually necessary to take a resample in order to control the success of the actions, the repair schedule of the mould and moisture damage stretches ill-proportionally long.
Because of this, we have developed a DNA (Deoxyribonucleic acid) based identification method for microbes which shortens considerably the analysis time. We use the quantitative PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) method for this purpose. At the moment we are able to determine the degree of a microbial damage for moulds, bacteria and actinomycetes with the method.
The analysis result will be obtained in 1 to 3 days depending on the sample traffic jam.
